"That they may know that you, whose name alone is Yahweh, are the most high over all the earth."
Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Assembly of Yahweh based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these Biblical doctrines.
The Bible
The Bible (66 books) is the inspired Word of Yahweh. He has preserved its original meaning. We do not accept non-canonical books, such as the Apocrypha, as divinely inspired Scripture.
The Sabbath Day
The seventh-day Sabbath (Friday sunset to Saturday sunset) was ordained at creation (Gen. 2:2–3). We honor this commandment as a lasting covenant sign.
Assembly (Church) Structure
Yahshua the Messiah is the Head of the Assembly (Eph. 1:22). Each local congregation is autonomous, with ultimate authority resting in heaven, not in the office of any man.
Yahweh is One
Yahweh is One—the heavenly Father, our only Creator and Almighty (Neh. 9:6). We reject the doctrines of the Trinity and Oneness.
Yahshua (The Son)
Yahshua is our King, Messiah, Mediator, and High Priest—the one perfect Mediator between Yahweh and man (1 Tim. 2:5).
The Sacred Names
The name of our Creator is YHWH, pronounced Yahweh. The name of His Son, the Messiah, is Yahshua.
The Law (also called Torah)
The Law (Torah) remains for believers today. As people of the Covenant, we are called to live in obedience to Yahweh’s commandments.
Passover & Communion
Passover, kept on the 14th day of the first Biblical month, is observed as our annual “communion” with Yahshua.
Salvation
Salvation is only by grace through faith in Yahshua the Messiah. Once saved, we are called to live in obedience as a response to His saving work.
Repentance
We are called to repent, believe, and be baptized in order to be joined to the commonwealth of Israel, also known as the Assembly (often called "the Church" in Christianity).
The Mortality of Man
Humans are mortal souls, subject to death. There is no consciousness outside the body. Our hope is the Resurrection, when we will be changed into spiritual beings at Yahshua’s return (Rom. 8:11).
Soul Sleep
At death, a person “sleeps” in the grave, awaiting the resurrection. There is no conscious afterlife apart from the body.
The Resurrection
At Yahshua’s return, the saints will be resurrected to reign with Him for 1,000 years. A second resurrection will follow at the end of the millennium, leading to the Great White Throne Judgment.
"Eternal" Punishment
The unsaved will face eternal judgement—not eternal torture. They will be destroyed, cease to exist, and never return.
We Abstain from Pagan Practices
We abstain from holidays rooted in paganism, including Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and St. Patrick’s Day.
Hebrew Roots
The faith we follow is rooted in Israel. Yahshua and His Apostles were Israelites who kept the Sabbath and lived by the Torah.
We Are Grafted In
All covenants of salvation were made with Israel. Through Yahshua, believers are grafted into Yahweh’s chosen people.
We Are Non-Charismatic
We do not recognize modern charismatic practices such as speaking in unknown “babbling” tongues, being slain in the spirit, or claiming new revelations outside of Scripture.
Dreams & Visions
Dreams and visions must align with Scripture to be considered true. Many false claims of direct revelation from Yahweh or Yahshua have been used to lead people away from Biblical teaching (Jer. 14:14; Jude 8–16). We test all things against the Word.
We are Pro-Life
We believe human life is sacred. Abortion is the taking of innocent human life and is therefore murder (Ex. 20:13; Matt. 19:18).
Sexual Purity
The Bible teaches there are two genders: male and female. Homosexuality, transgenderism, and cross-dressing are sins that defy Yahweh’s design. Marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman.
Drugs & Alcohol
Moderate use of alcohol is permitted according to Yahweh's Word, but drunkenness is forbidden. Drug abuse of any kind is a sin against Yahweh, against society, and against the body.
Men's Role in the Assembly
Men are called to lead worship gatherings as Scripture directs (1 Cor. 14:33–37; 1 Tim. 2:11–12).
